The Allahabad High Court quashed the order which cancelled Amitabh Bachchan's ownership of a farmland in Barabanki in UP.
However, the state says this will only work in their favour.
Not only have they made a list of some tough questions for Bachchan to answer, they also say this gives them more time to get additional evidence.
On Friday, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court admitted his petition challenging the Faizabad's court order of June 1.
The lower court had termed the acquisition of land by the megastar in Barabanki as fraudulent.
''The court has prima facie recorded a finding to this effect. The commissioner should not have recorded a finding even without giving an opportunity to the petitioner,'' said Mohammad Arif, Amitabh Bachchan's lawyer.
The high court has asked Bachchan to explain his ownership of the piece of land. It has given the government four weeks to file its counter-affidavit, after which the Big B would get two weeks to file his rejoinder in court.
The next date of hearing in the case is July 23.
Counter affidavit
The court order on Friday may come as a breather for Amitabh Bachchan, but it also comes as a shot in the arm for government.
State lawyers now say that they will get four weeks of valuable time to file their counter affidavit before the court in which they will gather enough evidence to prove that Amitabh Bachchan is guilty.
''The burden now lies on Mr Amitabh Bachchan to prove as to where does he draw the title of this land from. The burden is not on us,'' said Devendra Upadhyay, Chief Standing Counsel.
Some crucial questions raised by the state which Bachchan will have to answer in court.. are:
How come he claims ownership of the Gram Samaj Land that's meant only for poor and landless Dalit farmers Why has he mentioned his residential address as 17, Clive Road, Allahabad, when his father Harivansh Rai Bachchan stayed there as a tenant only till 1958 and
Why has the land not been entered in the tehsil and lekhpal records. But the actor who's currently in Yorkshire for the IIFA awards ceremony says he has full faith in the judiciary, beyond that he wouldn't say anything.
