Saawariya reinstates filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s belief in romantic beauty with its dramatic and artistic visuals, alongside its soulful music that is set to song on lyricist Sameer’s verse by debutant music director, 36-year-old Monty Sharma.
“It’s absolutely an honour to work with Sanjayji and make my debut in a project as big as this. Sanjayji seeks perfection and I seek to do the extraordinary. That makes our destination the same, so the end result is magical. I am absolutely sure that the score of Saawariya will do very well, be it among the masses or the classes,” says Monty.
And lending his voice to the RK scion Ranbir Kapoor is Shail Hada. “It’s my dream come true and I am very happy that my playback singing career has started with Sanjayji. I have also been Sonam’s and Ranbir’s music teacher so I knew that my voice would suit Ranbir’s,” says the singer of his musical experience in the film.
The film’s musical team is overjoyed with the fabulous response the television trailers have generated, given the film’s music is fast becoming a rage, with audiences humming the hauntingly beautiful title track.
Lyricist Sameer is happy that he worked with Sanjay on an entire film after doing just the song More Piya in Devdas with him earlier.
“Even though we wanted to work with each other afterwards, we couldn’t, because he made Black which had no songs. Then when he started Saawariya, he called me. It’s a pleasure to work with someone who knows his job and craft so well. I must say Sanjay is extremely very knowledgeable about music. I always try to upgrade myself and move with the times and work with new talent. It is the best way to continue the job otherwise one will go senile and live in the glory of the past. I am very happy that I worked with Ranbir too. I had told Rishi that I wanted to work with his son when he entered the industry and today, I have. Ranbir will be India’s number one star soon,” predicts Sameer.
Since the title track has already created quite a buzz, the music has been launched fairly early. The music of Saawariya is available on Sony Music in stores tomorrow! Musically yours...
